INCA  TRAIL 2 day / 1 night

Trek Itinerary:

Day 1: Early morning transfer from your hotel to the train station. Train from Cusco to kilometre 104 (start of the trek). Cross the Vilcabamba River and trek to Wiñay Wayna. Box Lunch. Visit Inca ruins and continue to Machu Picchu, arriving at approximately 4pm. We take the bus from Machu Picchu to Aguas Calientes where we will spend the night.

Day 2: Return by bus to Machu Picchu (arriving at about 6 am). Guided tour of the Inca Citadel (2 hours). Free time to explore Machu Picchu and climb Wayna Picchu. Return by bus to Aguas Calientes for lunch. Train Aguas Calientes to Cusco.

   

Options: 

Inca Trail(1) An extra night in Aguas Calientes can easily be arranged for you if required. Hotels costs and costs associated with returning to Machu Picchu the following day are additional to trek costs. It is best to make your hotel reservation directly. The web page www.andeantravelweb.com/peru/hotels/machupicchu has some good recommendations and contact details.

(2) Vegetarian Meals. We can provide vegetarian meals or cater for special diets with no extra cost. Just let us know at least 2 days prior to trek departure.

What is included:

  • Collection from your hotel in the morning and transfer to train station.
  • Train tickets - Cusco to start of trek and Aguas Calientes to Cusco after the trek (Backpackers service)
  • Inca Trail & Machu Picchu entrance fees,
  • Professional English speaking guide
  • Meals (1 box lunch, 1 dinner and 1 breakfast),
  • Overnight accommodation in basic hostal at Aguas Calientes on the first night
  • Tourist bus from Machu Picchu to Aguas Calientes (day 1) and Aguas Calientes to Machu Picchu (day 2)
  • Transfer from train station in Cusco to your hotel
  • First aid kit

What is not included:

  • Inca TrailBreakfast on the first morning.
  • Lunch in restaurant in Aguas Calientes on day 2.
  • Tourist bus from Machu Picchu to Aguas Calientes (day 2) extra US$6
  • Entrance to the thermal springs in Aguas Calientes US$ 3

What you need to bring/carry:

  • Daypack,
  • Rain jacket or poncho (plastic ponchos can be purchased in Cusco for a few dollars)
  • Strong, comfortable footwear
  • Sweater and jacket (something warm)
  • Flashlight and batteries
  • Hat or cap to protect you from the sun
  • Sun block (sun protection cream)
  • Insect repellent
  • Toiletries, towel and toilet paper
  • Selection of small snacks, chocolate, dried fruit, biscuits etc,
  • Camera, plenty of film and spare batteries
  • Swimsuit (if you plan on visiting the hot springs at Aguas Calientes after the trek)
  • You also need to bring your original passport on the trail.
