AUSANGATE – LLAMA TREK: 6 DAYS / 5 NIGHTS

Ausangate is a glacier covered peaks southeast of Cusco. It can be seen from the city and for this reason was worshipped by the Incas as an Apu or sacred mountain. This Apu is still venerated by residents of the Andes today who consider it to be a protective spirit. One of the major Andean religious celebrations, the Feast of the Señor de Qoyllor Rity, is held on the slopes of Ausangate in early June.

Llamas as well as horses will be used to transport camping equipment and food on this trek. This will give you the unique opportunity to observe one of the animals most important to Andean traditions and culture at close quarters.
